Cloud Assurance Traffic Accounting

While Cloud computing provides increased IT flexibility and lower operational costs, it also shifts IT management priorities from the network core to the WAN/Internet connection. Without a good network monitoring and reporting solution in place, ensuring adequate bandwidth capacity can potentially become a very serious issue.
"The migration of business critical applications to the Cloud model has put a new focus on the availability of bandwidth to support required levels of service. The Internet connection is a vital link to an enterprise's business critical applications," says Steve Urquhart, Managing Director, nMetrics Pty Ltd. “The Cloud Assurance Traffic Accounting (CATA) feature within our Application Monitor series offers companies real insight into how often these applications are being used and their impact on the network, providing critical visibility and control for effective bandwidth allocation and management."
CATA enables companies to monitor and document the bandwidth that each Cloud service is utilizing for bandwidth accounting and chargeback and assign a dollar value per traffic usage. The bandwidth group capability enables prioritization of bandwidth for Cloud applications to ensure application delivery meets defined service levels. CATA also provides departmental chargeback, where it can assign dollars to that bandwidth, allowing IT staff to calculate bandwidth usage invoices directly from the device.
nMetrics CATA reports provide a summary of the total Internet bandwidth used by Cloud service and non-Cloud service sites, giving an executive-level view of Internet bandwidth to support business critical Cloud services versus bandwidth used for employee web access.
nMetrics is an industry leader in the delivery of performance reports for managed service providers and cloud vendors. The nMetrics solution reports on application and network performance, TOS variables, latency, anomalous traffic, availability and alerting and DPI traffic inspection – all in real time. Through its patented classification technology, nMetrics identifies the people, the group, the region, the country or the application, behind each IP address on an enterprise network. By mapping IP addresses to traffic usage statistics, nMetrics enables a view of the entire public and/or private Cloud. It also provides a current and historic view of employee and departmental usage of Cloud applications. |
