Network Troubleshooting
The nMetrics application and network performance monitoring solution allows you to minimize potential business impact by quickly pinpointing trouble areas to enable high-speed problem resolution. Data is collected from across the network into one centralized database and the intuitive graphical interface enables network managers to quickly identify and analyze problems in real-time. Data can be collected from many different sources including SPAN/Mirror ports and a wide range of flow-based agents such as Cisco NetFlow v5 and v9, IPFIX, and jFlow.
Span/Mirror collection - a switch mirror port is a port that is configured to mirror or copy all traffic to or from another port. The nMetrics Application Monitor can accept connections from multiple mirror or SPAN ports to collect network performance statistics for visibility of all WAN traffic to the site.
Flow collection - collects and measures flow data sent directly from routers or switches using the NetFlow (v5 or v9) or IPFIX protocols. Flow based accounting systems are more efficient and more scalable for high-speed networks. Flow-based accounting collects statistical information about network usage by examining individual flows (or conversations) between devices, as opposed to every single packet. nMetrics uses flow correlation to consolidate traffic information from disparate remote sites into one centralized database.
Packet analysis - packets of remote subnet traffic may be continuously captured and recorded by the nMetrics application monitor allowing you to drill down into the packet and diagnose problems from one central device. With the remote collector/central server deployment, packet capture can be executed remotely. Capture samples may be analyzed locally or saved for offline analysis using third party tools. Regardless of point of capture, the captured file is analyzed automatically and can be viewed via the Web interface.
